S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows Kicks Off 8th Annual Holiday Food Drive to Benefit the Maryland Food Bank

-- Company to match each pound of food donated with a $1 monetary donation, now through December 20, 2011 --

ELDERSBURG, MD. S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows (www.SKRoofing.com) announced today the launch of their 8th Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank (www.MDFoodBank.org). As in previous years, S&K will be matching each pound of food donated with a $1 monetary donation, making each private donation that much more valuable for those in need.

Founded in 1979 the Maryland Food Bank is charged with procuring and distributing food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the state's hungry. In Fiscal Year 2011, the Maryland Food Bank distributed more than 23 million pounds of food – the equivalent of almost 18 million meals.

"According to the Maryland Food Bank, there are roughly a half million Marylanders that are unsure of where their next meal is coming from," stated Charlie McCurry, Sales Director for S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows. "With the earthquake, hurricane, record-breaking rainfall and a sluggish economy we know this state and lots of families have had a rough year. It's time for all of us to step up and make things better for everyone this holiday season."

Since their first food drive in 2003, S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows has donated 3.5 tons of food and nearly $10,000 to the Maryland Food Bank.

In addition to giving charitable donations throughout the year S&K also provides their customers with a way to give back as well. After filling out a short customer satisfaction survey, S&K gives each customer the option of having S&K donate $15 to one of several charities on their behalf, including the Maryland Food Bank. Canned and non-perishable food, as well as non-food items can be donated during business hours at a drop box located in S&K's showroom at 5399 Enterprise Street in Eldersburg, or dropped off after hours near the showroom entrance. Donations are being accepted now through December 20, 2011.

According to the Maryland Food Bank, the most needed food items include canned meat, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, cereal, pasta, canned fruits and vegetables and soup. Non-food items needed include diapers, toilet paper, feminine hygiene items, plastic/paper plates and cups.
